This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Under their scope of practice and in collaboration with patients and the health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes. As the acuity or complexity increases and/or outcomes are not predictable, the LPN, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides nursing interventions, within their scope of practice. The RN retains accountability for the assignment and/or delegation of patient care activities to the LPN, but the LPN is accountable for individual actions or practices.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Current LPN registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Recent experience administering medications and/or a pharmacology course is required
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Long Assignment, Part-time (80%) position; 60 hours bi-weekly

Beginning November 7, 2021 with a duration of November 8, 2022

Dates are approximate and subject to change

Shift work including weekends and holidays

Salary Information

$28.33 – $30.42 hourly
