This program benefits people who are involved in cultural or sports activities at the international level, or people who have experience as self-employed workers in the field of culture or sports.
It is recommended that you have two years of experience in these areas to be selected for this program. The evaluation will also be based on your education, your age, your language skills and your ability to adapt. Your intention and ability to create your own employment in Canada will be considered for self-employment.
A person’s financial assets can be a measure of that person’s intention and ability to settle in Canada. There is no minimum investment level imposed on self-employed individuals. The capital required depends on the nature of the work
As far as experience in cultural activities is concerned, it can be obtained in the following ways:
- two one-year periods of self-employment related to cultural activities, or
- two one-year periods of participation in international cultural activities, or
- a one-year period described in (a) above, combined with a one-year period described in b) above.
The experience must have been gained during the period beginning five years before the date you apply.
For sports activities, experience can be obtained in the following ways:
- two one-year periods of self-employment related to sports activities, or
- two one-year periods of participation in international sports activities, or
- a one-year period described in (a) above, combined with a one-year period described in b) above.
For an application to be approved in this program, the applicant must score at least 35 points out of a possible 100.
