The Lois Hole Hospital for Women provides expert patient care for women of all ages and in all stages of life located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) one of Alberta’s largest and longest-serving hospitals. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable populations. In this Registered Nurse position working with obstetrical patients, you will have the opportunity to use your advanced clinical skills to perform a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. As the successful candidate, you demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, have a thorough understanding of the antepartum period, the labour and delivery process and the immediate postpartum period, and possesses extensive knowledge of newborn assessment and breastfeeding. You have experience handling obstetrical emergencies and caring for high-risk women with obstetrical complications and/or medical conditions complicated by pregnancy. The primary responsibility in the Labour & Delivery, Obstetrical Operating Room, and Assessment/Induction Room with responsibility to provide cross coverage to antepartum as required.

In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
